KLASSIK by LYNNE is happy to announce the addition of Fagas Rubber Straps and Experspring helical springs to the line of products we carry. These straps are correct replacements which are necessary in the restoration of vintage Scandinavian Modern furniture.

We now deal with three different types of webbing:
Fagas Rubber Straps
Rubber straps with metal clips welded on both ends. Delivered in various sizes. Please look for a three-figure number on the old strap or measure from slot to slot in the furniture.

Experweb
Furniture rubber webbing with linen inlay. Sold by the foot. Width: 38mm and 51mm.

Experclips
Metal clips for experweb. Width: 38mm and 51mm.

Experspring
Electroplated steel helical spring - vinyl coating. Measure from slot to slot in the furniture. Sold by the foot. Width: 5mm

Fagas Rubber Straps- $9.95 each
Made in Denmark, Fagas Rubber Straps are correct replacements for Selig and Dux furniture. The straps use a metal 45-degree clip at each end that fit into a 45-degree angled slot in the chair/sofa frame. Six sizes are available. Please see the chart below.

It may help to locate the a three-digit product number on the old strap when ordering.

Note:
We suggest replacing all straps at the same time.  This will prevent uneven tension and wear.  You will generally need 5 to 6 straps per chair/loveseat to support 1 person.
 
When ordering straps, please specify the strap number (found at the end of each strap, usually a 3-digit number).  If you do not have the strap number, measure (in inches) from slot to slot.  The slot is where the strap hooks into the chair bottom.   Do not take measurement from old worn straps.  If you have crossing straps, measure both directions as they may be different lengths.



Straps must be stretched several inches to provide proper support – 3 to 4 inches is not too much.  Straps should be installed with the proper tension to allow for maximum comfort.

Experweb Upholsterer’s Webbing-
Experweb upholsterer's webbing is strong rubber webbing woven with a linen inlay. Available in both 38mm and 51mm width.

When measuring for webbing, add at least 1 inch at each end of the old webbing path.  Webbing is cut and shipped as one length.  You will need to cut the individual straps to size and secure with heavy duty staples or nails. 

It is necessary and important to extend the strapping 5-10%, in order to provide correct support and tension.
Please consult for special applications such as substituting webbing for loop straps.

Experweb Upholsterer’s Webbing is $3.50/ft.
Experweb Metal Clips
Experweb clips will fit only with Experweb webbing in the 90-degree angled slots.  (They will not fit into the narrower 45-degree angled slots for Fagas straps.)  When ordering metal clips, add 1 inch per length of webbing to fit the clips on each end (1/2 inch per clip).   Size available is 38mm or 51 mm widths.

Experspring Helical Spring –
Experspring- Electroplated steel helical spring coated in vinyl. Diameter: 5 mm.
Experscrew used for fastening Experspring (included, please specify number needed).
In order to determine the correct length of vinyl coated spring needed, please take a “slot to slot” measurement, or use old spring for a rough estimate (it should be noted that old springs are usually stretched out of shape). Measure (in inches) from “slot-to-slot” or from one side of the chair frame to the other side (i.e. where the spring hooks into chair platform). We do not cut to individual sizes but send the order in one length.
It should be noted that the steel helical spring is straight in length and not a closed loop when purchased.
In order to create a desired closed loop, an Experspring screw connects each end forming the closed loop.

When cutting the helical spring, it is necessary and important to take into account that springs should be extended by 5-10%, in order to provide correct support and tension. This can be achieved by cutting the spring length 1 to 2 inches shorter than “slot to slot” measurement.
